BABY CALVES

syd and weston bought some calves last week!

2 - black
1 - white face
1 - red and white longhorn

today syd bought 3 more.

1 - black (big calf)
1- red and white
1- brown

we are bottle feeding the calves, syd does the chores in the morning and we do them at night. weston loves it and starts asking when we pull in the yard if it is time to feed the calves. he gets right in the pen and puts his fingers in their mouth. Saturday, he fell and the longhorn was sucking his arm and face and he was yelling "help nidnee" that is what his version of SYDNEY sounds like. tonight i showed him how to put grain in his hand and put it in their mouth. RED is what grandpa named his longhorn calf and he calls it by name. they are buddies!

the bugs are so bad that we soak in bug spray and still get attacked; someone told chad to use VANILLA and that helps keep the gnats away, so he bought some today and put the bug spray nozzle on the VANILLA bottle. he said it worked all day. so on the way to the cattle pen tonight we put on VANILLA and IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i really did not get "bugged" by the bugs. Not sure if it works on mosqitoes but they were not as bad. my dad said he was getting ate up and he was the only one with out the "new" bug spray : VANILLA EXTRACT.
